The Bol guesthouse has 3 large spacious beachfront
bungalows with double and single beds. There is
no power at the guesthouse, but good reading light
is provided by battery operated lantern. Mosquito
nets, sheets and towels are also provided. Sylvia
is an excellent cook if you would like meals provided,
or you may self-cater in the large traditional
cook house.
Demas is a wonderful host! He is the chief MaiMai
in New Ireland, was once the Premier of New Ireland,
and commands quite a lot of respect. You will
find yourself sitting in conversation with Demas
for hours, intrigued by his knowledge of the history
of the area and of the Malagan Culture. Demas
likes to involve the whole community when guests
are staying so the local families provide the
food and children can perform sing sings to entertain
guests. You are also welcome to fish and snorkel
with Demas' family.
Bol is a 10 minute drive to Libba Village, where
you can visit Malagan Master Carver, Ben Sisia.
Also nearby are Laraibina eel farm, Fissoa and
Bulau water holes and Laraiaru lagoon at Kafkaf
Village.
