her home Cathy has a large spacious room that
has a double and 2 single beds. There is no power
in the village so light is by lantern only. Mosquito
nets and towels are provided. Meals are available.
Note there are no conventional toilet facilities.
Located on a beautiful beach amongst the village,
Cathy and her eels are quite a unique attraction.
The eels are tame and fed in their natural habitat.
This homestay provides visitors with an opportunity

traditional style guesthouse situated on the Boluminski
Highway in Konos Village on the east coast of
New Ireland. The guesthouse is located near a
big river and is just a few steps away from a
long sandy beach where you can swim and snorkel,
with a fantastic fringing coral reef. Dancing
groups can be arranged, and even a mumu feast.
You can visit our origin place where our ancestors
lived in caves, or we can arrange for a bushwalking
trip over the mountains to Tembin on the west
coast to see the famous shark callers.

those going to or from Tabar Island or heading

Laxasilang Guesthouse

guesthouse is brand new (2006) and quite a lot
of thought has been given to constructing and
decorating the place. It is situated on a large
well kept grassy block just near the local Plantations
main store and pick up point. It has two running
streams down either side of the guesthouse, and
it is only a short stroll down the rivers to the
ocean. There are some great bushwalks to be had
in this area, with a huge array of birds.

to accommodate up to 4 people.

This
traditional style guesthouse at Bol village is
located on a beautiful sandy beach, a perfect
spot for swimming. The shady trees make it a nice
and quite place to sit and relax. Nearby is a
lovely river. The people are friendly and the
children are always excited to see tourists.
One building with 3 rooms. One double, 2 twins
and a 5 bed dormitory.Also a separate Haus
Boi which has inside a raised platform suitable
for groups to sleep.
Demas is a wonderful host. He is the chief MaiMai
in New Ireland and was once the Premier of New
Ireland, and commands quite a lot of respect.
You will find yourself sitting in conversation
with Demas for hours, intrigued by his knowledge
of the history of the area and of the Malagan
Culture. Demas likes to involve the whole community
when guests are staying so the local women provide
the food and the children perform sing sings to
entertain the guests.
Panatalis in only a short 15 minute drive to
Libba Village where you can visit Malagan Master
Carver, Ben Sisia.
