House (Previously Ligga Transit Centre) (Map Ref
# 7)
Ligga Village (Only 5 km from Kavieng)
Phone 9841267
Host: Michelle Kapin
Focussing
on budget travellers and groups this guest house
accommodates up to 30 guests in very basic but
clean rooms housed in a long wooden building with
verandas overlooking the ocean. The toilet block
is about 30 metres away and has flushing toilets.
There are shower stalls in this block however
because fresh water is a problem they have been
removed. Until the water tanks are replaced (expected
in October/November 2006) guests can bathe in
a fresh water spring on the beach.
The Mess Hut is a long wooden building with a
kitchen at one end and dining area at the other.
The kitchen is very basic with just a wood fire
however cooking equipment and utensils are available
to guests. The dining arrangement is a large area
to accommodate people attending work shops etc.
This place is very economic and it is good value
for money and a cheaper option for backpackers.
