New Guinea Tours Operates out of Dalom Guesthouse, a well-known and popular guesthouse on the East Coast of New Ireland. They offer Bird watching, Surfing, Bush walking, Snorkeling, Fishing, Road Trips and Cultural Tours all along the coast and into the beautiful mountains of central New Ireland. They also offer tours out to the remote and rarely visited islands of the Tabar Island Group.

Surf

The surf season is from October to March. Dalom has a good, consistent break right at our beach. Since it is a river mouth, it is easy to paddle out and then ride in. The break is a fast hollow right, breaking over the reef onto a sand bar. After a fun surf you can just rinse off in the river as you come back in! Surfers and boogie boarders will love it.

There are other good breaks within walking distance and a 10-minute drive brings you to another excellent break. Here you have to walk down a steep hill to the ocean.

There is a boat for hire that will take you out to the many excellent breaks on the offshore islands or along the coast. We never book more than 10 surfers at one time and with our many available breaks you will never be dealing with a crowd.

Caves/Hiking/Bird watching/Canoeing/Bicycling

Besides just enjoying the beach and river there are lots of other things to do. Visitors come from around the world to enjoy our excellent Bird Watching. There are several interesting caves near by to be explored. For hikers the possibilities are endless. Most visitors really enjoy the short walk up to the cave where the river comes out after running under ground from the Lelet Plateau. Fresh water comes out in many places making for very interesting geography. At Pam there is a beautiful waterfall very near the road. Because the Boluminski Highway never has any very steep sections, it is perfect for bicycles. It is a wonderful way to really see the county side. You can ride from town and then be driven back. During the off-season for surf, it is great fun to explore the coast in a canoe or kayak.

Cultural

Every week a Mumu (a traditional earth oven) meal is prepared. Guests are invited to help prepare the traditional food, if they would like.

A trip by boat can be arranged to visit the world famous Malangan carvers on Tabar Island.

Cultural tours to other locations can also be arranged.
